Today, I would like to introduce recipetin’s butter chicken recipe. I have always loved butter chicken, but I usually only eat this at restaurants or I only cook it with a pre-prepared sauce package from the supermarket. This is caused by the fact that I thought that it’s very complex to make this from scratch until I came across recipetin’s recipe. The ingredients can all be bought in a Dutch supermarket.
I prepared this dish for two people with white rice and I also cooked some vegetables as a side dish, as I can’t live without eating veggies for diner.

Mix the marinade ingredients together until it’s smooth with e.g. a spoon/whisk.
Marinade the chicken with the marinade ingredients above for at least 3 hours and preferably overnight in the fridge. I have marinated it for 7 hours instead of overnight this time and it didn’t affect the flavor significantly.
Heat the butter in a large fry pan and cook the chicken until both sides are white (takes approx 5 minutes). DO NOT PUT THE REMAINING MARINADE SAUCE IN THE PAN.
Add the sauce in the pan: tomato pasta/puree, heavy cream, sugar and salt and mix them until it’s smooth.
Turn the stove down to low and let it simmer for 20 minutes.
Garnish with coriander, which is optional.
Serve with white, basmati rice or Indian naan bread. I also eat it regularly with this, which is also super good with curry. In the Netherlands, you can also just buy this from Albert Heijn or Jumbo or an Asian Toko like Oriental/Wah Nam Hong.
I hope that you will enjoy this recipe as much as I do and let me know in the comment box what you think! Have a nice day!
